Starting Where You Are, Really
Words of wisdom from Tracy Brooks Many of us are being called to share creatively, to lend our voices to the ongoing shifts. We all have something to say, something to offer in the conversation. Yet, often we are compelled to believe that we must “get somewhere else first.” We may have harsh expectations and perfectionistic tendencies which can lead us to procrastination and never feeling good enough. So, what are some ways we can actually start living our best version of our highest selves? For me, it is absolutely necessary to befriend my angst, to spend a bit of time leaning into what is creeping up. I have found that allowing a bit of “inner venting”, of listening to what is rattling or tripping me up can be a great way to start. As a writer, I often feel like a caged animal prior to creating. Lots of pent up energy and swirls of things that long to be danced on paper. I have come to trust this, and not judge it.
