Today is My Favorite Day
“What day is it?”
It’s today,” squeaked Piglet.
My favorite day,” said Pooh.”
~ A.A. Milne
This morning I was REALLY looking forward to that one and only cup of coffee in which I indulge on a daily basis–that is until I poured in the half & half which immediately curdled and floated to the top like cottage cheese. “Dang it”, I said as I poured it out, thinking, “what a waste of time and good coffee.” Then I looked at the expiration date on the carton and, sure enough, the cream had expired a few days ago. Then I proceeded to beat myself up for not being more aware of the expiration date.
Always looking for the perfect metaphor in every situation I had an epiphany; everything has an expiration date, even if we can’t see it. This includes our bodies, our relationships, our homes–everything that “is” will expire one day and be done, gone…kaput. Even this day will expire at midnight. Knowing this is so, how can you best appreciate the blessings contained within this day before it expires? I agree with Pooh, today really is my favorite day of the week. How about you?
