Are You Open?

What if we were to accept that all of the experiences in our lives was guidance? Imagine if everything we went through in our day had an important lesson for our positive growth. How would this change our lives? Would we see synchronicity as just a random thing, or would we recognize our connection to all thing seen and unseen?
This would mean that every encounter, every moment, would be a place of learning. The only way this would benefit us is if we were aware of the potential lesson. When we accept this mindset, it may be difficult to see an event far away from us as a lesson, so it may be easier to examine events closer to home.
You may ask how being stuck in traffic or your dog tangling with a skunk becomes a lesson? The question after such an event would be, what could you learn? Is it possible to leave earlier so you don’t get stuck in traffic? Could public transportation be an option?
What about a better fence to protect your dog?
If we were to look within our experiences to discover the lessons, then we would begin to see that important guidance flows to us all the time. Is running late a bad thing or does it keep us out of a potential traffic jam or wreck on the freeway? Only by noticing what is happening around us will we begin to see the connection between what we think is a random event and the lessons of guidance.
With this new belief, synchronicity, coincidence, and serendipity would all be seen as things meant for our growth and not something of chance. The question then becomes, how would this impact our daily lives? Many lessons may be easy to see: a fence for the dog, taking mass transit.
Yet, what about the more challenging aspects of our lives?
This is where it is important to be honest with yourself. Ignoring the guidance may have caused an experience to turn negative, maybe you let the dog out to chase away the skunk. If this is the case, it is beneficial for you to evaluate your behavior. This has the potential to be a lesson that could shift your life in a positive direction. There may be a time in your life when you are grateful for the situation, because the inner growth was so powerful.
This new way of thinking may change the way you view the world around you. Instead of walking with your head down afraid of what will happen next, look up to welcome the serendipitous lesson coming your way. How would you change as a person with this new wisdom? Would it be possible to express gratitude for something that in your past would have ruined your entire day?
Is a rainstorm a hindrance, or a blessing?
Some lessons may be easier to recognize than others. Yet, as time goes by, you will begin to understand the lessons before they have a chance to become negative. Also, you will gain confidence in your ability to stay emotionally centered when things don’t turn out well for you. The intention is to recognize the guidance that flows through every experience. You may call these experiences, coincidences, or synchronicity, but now with your new awareness, you will know them as guidance.
How does this new understanding help you with the more challenging aspects of life? To stay in an emotional place of center and balance, it is important to look for the lesson or the guidance, as quickly as possible. It is worth knowing that negativity will block your ability to recognize this guidance. Once the lesson is understood, you can quickly move to a more positive frame of mind, because the situation no longer controls you emotionally. Why? Because you have become aware of the guidance and you have learned the lesson. Now you can move forward with this new understanding.
The next time you experience an event you think is synchronicity, coincidence or serendipity, look for the hidden lessons. These lessons will be a tremendous benefit to you and those around you. All you have to do is look up and welcome the guidance into your life.
