This month in Conscious Shifting… Benevolent Power
Benevolence is by definition an act of kindness. When I looked the word up, I was given great literary examples like Mr. Brownlow who adopted Oliver in Oliver Twist, Abel Magwitch in Great Expectations, and Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol. Then there are real life examples of Benevolence like Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa, Aunt Rose, and Mama Bear.
Chances are you don’t recognize the last two names so let me introduce you. Aunt Rose is my personal version of Benevolence. I have many stories about her. The one that stands out most in my relationship to her and her Benevolence was when I was just coming out, while being married to her nephew. It was a hard and confusing time for me. He was nothing short of amazing to be married to, except that he was a guy.
I needed support and acceptance and she provided it in the perfect Aunt Rose manner. She helped with ideas and encouragement. Showed me a path and then let me take the first step. She uplifted without disempowering me or my journey.
For me her Benevolence was and still is iconic.
Next meet Mama Bear. I have only been an observer to the powerful effect her Benevolence has had on those around her. Mama Bear had five cubs and was left to raise them on her own and did so with a smile on her face and love in her heart. Her Benevolence and love radiated from everything she did for the cubs. She provided safety, kept everyone fed, provided heat when it was cold, and fixed, well…anything and everything that needed to be fixed. The stories her cubs tell about her make you forget there was ever poverty, sadness or struggle. Her Benevolent Power can still be felt today even though she is no longer with us.
Benevolence and Benevolence as Power is something we need more of in the world today. The ability to be kind while doing the right thing simply because it’s the right thing to do is powerful and contagious. One act of Benevolence radiates throughout the world and makes a difference for everyone, not just the initial receiver. Had Mama Bear not been so Benevolent I may not have had the opportunity to marry one of her cubs and be forever changed by her Benevolence. Had Aunt Rose not stepped in and filled me with uplifting empowerment I may not be here today.
Benevolence is the salve of the ages. It has shown up over and over again through time. It is the Conscious Shift when we need Shifting the most.
Welcome down the rabbit hole of Benevolent Power.
