The Win Win
The phrase the path of least resistance has several different meanings. In physics, it represents the path something will most likely follow. For example, it is easy to predict which way water will flow as it moves through the earth. It is the most obvious path it will follow that is predicted. What goes up must come down. We are really no different as humans. We tend to take the path or way that will give us the least problems, or…resistance.
There are two sides to every coin so to speak. Some believe, taking the path of least resistance can be smart; less time consuming, less obstacles. Yet at times we tend to do that on an emotional level to avoid conflict, not rock the boat, or keep thing copacetic. It just depends on the person, the belief system of that person. There is no right or wrong way to take the path of life. We are all here on the Earth Walk together.
The path of least resistance doesn’t have to be about losing or nor does it have to be judged. It is simply what each spirit feels is best for the situation at hand. That being said, I ask you to humor me for a moment, allow me to indulge in a scenario.
Imagine this: a world where every person took the path of least resistance. A world where we each stood in a peaceful place with each other and all things. A place where we didn’t lash out and fight what appears to be the opposition, but instead, turned our attention inwards for the answer. A world where we didn’t dump our insecurities or shortcomings on others, but instead realized that there are no shortcomings, and there is only one true enemy; ourselves. A place where forgiveness reigns supreme, because we realize there is nothing to forgive in the first place. We wouldn’t need forgiveness if we just loved. When we look within, we find a multiverse of beauty, and the Creation we came from. The path of least resistance is perhaps the way back home. In honor of all my relations here on the good Mother Earth, here is a spirit prayer for all of us. Mitakuye Oyasin.
GREAT SPIRIT PRAYER
“Oh, Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the wind,
Whose breath gives life to all the world.
Hear me; I need your strength and wisdom.
Let me walk in beauty, and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have made and my ears sharp to hear your voice
Make me wise so that I may understand the things you have taught my people.
Help me to remain calm and strong in the face of all that comes towards me.
Let me learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock.
Help me seek pure thoughts and act with the intention of helping others.
Help me find compassion without empathy overwhelming me.
I seek strength, not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy – Myself.
Make me always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes.
So when life fades, as the fading sunset,
my spirit may come to you without shame.
